Victory Values Truth – Throughout the Victory program, truth and honesty will be paramount. Every member of the Victory program - Player, Coach, Parent, Volunteer – will tell the truth and the whole truth at all times. We will create an environment where honesty is expected, respected, and accepted. A person who tells the truth will be included in the Victory program and their continued honesty will keep them in the program (even if their actions require remedial coaching and correction). Truth over all. Faith – Everyone in the Victory program will possess and exhibit faith in their fellow Victory participants. Players will have faith in their Coaches and their teammates. Parents, Volunteers and Coaches will have faith in the Players and in each other. All Victory participants – Players, Coaches, Parents, Volunteers – will all be working in the best interest of the players. Program unity will serve as an overriding principle throughout Victory. If an opportunity for improvement exists, it will be brought to the Coaches, who will resolve the issue in the best interest of the Players. Have faith in everyone. Justice – Victory participants will learn how to care for people in need, work for causes bigger than themselves, and enact justice on behalf of others. The world needs courageous people who can serve their fellow humans. Victory participants – Players, Coaches, Parents, Volunteers – will seek opportunities to serve others. For example, respecting opponents and respecting officials will be required. In order to compete with Dignity, we must know the rules, play by them, and respect the officials. Our tongues will be silent as we show with our actions the character of our heart. We will learn to respect all people, regardless of condition or situation, and we will serve with joy. As we build our strength and self respect, we will be more valuable to enact justice in our communities. Justice for all. Victory Coaching First, Coach is an honorable title. A Victory Coach will consider it a joy and an honor to coach a player. Parents are offering their faith and support to the Coach, with an expectation that their child will grow in maturity and fortitude. A Victory Coach will take this responsibility seriously and feel great joy for having touched a life for the better. There are at least 7 key characteristics of an outstanding coach. Character Competence Courage Compassion Communication Creativity Charisma A Victory Coach will possess the first 4 to a sufficient degree to be worthy of serving in the role of coach. These characteristics are the minimum standard to serve as a Victory Coach. Communication will be essential to be an effective coach. We will seek to ensure that all Victory Coaches are effective communicators. For those who possess Character, Competence, Courage, and Compassion and yet struggle with Communication, Victory will work with that Coach on their Communication skills. Further, Victory will surround that Coach with people who can help the Coach in their Communication responsibilities. Creativity and Charisma will put a Victory Coach over the top and elevate them to being outstanding. We will seek Coaches who possess Creativity and Charisma and place them in leadership roles in the Victory program. For those who are limited in these attributes, we will provide training and mentoring to improve their abilities and monitor their growth. In the Victory program, Parents have the right to expect excellence among the Coaching staff. In those cases where improvements are desired, the Head Coach and the Victory Program Head are always willing to accept constructive evaluations delivered in a caring manner. |
